Bird Proofing Netting Installation protection against pigeon and seagull infestation Lowestoft Suffolk

Recently, Millennium Pest Control Ltd have completed a job in the Lowestoft area for installing Bird Netting onto a roof. Due to the location of the structure the bird population is very high and it is a prime area for them to nest. Unfortunately, the birds nests themselves along with the droppings contain harmful pathogens that are potentially harmful to human health.

If the activity from pigeons and gulls was allowed to continue at the rate they are then they can cause great damage to the building structure itself again, this would be a public health risk due to the foot fall near by.

This netting will deter the bird activity away from the building ensuring that it remains safe.

Guide to Domestic Proofing against pests

proof house 1

There are numerous ways of proofing your domestic properties to deny and prevent access of rodents and birds. The harmful pathogens that they produce from their urine and droppings are a risk to human health and in some cases can cause structural damage to buildings. Whilst baiting and trapping are good ways of controlling rodents this is NOT the long-term answer to the problem. Ensuring that they do not have access to your property and somewhere safe to harbour is the most vital part of denying an infestation inside the home. Here are some of the things that can really help:

  1. Bristle strip- this product keeps rodents, insects and birds at bay whilst also helping the home protect against draughts. This product comes in various sizes of depth and is a tried and tested product with great affect.

  1. Bristle Strip- This area of the property can reap the reward from bristle strip. However, garage doors can be difficult on the varying depths of the ground level, the garage door material and whether or not is an electric motored door. Sometimes it is a good idea to get into contact with the garage door company and they may have a product designed specifically for the job.

3. Cement- Small Cracks and crevices that appear over time and are a result of house movement and general wear and tear can give rodents access to the wall cavities. These areas should be addressed and sealed with a cement. This again something the skilled technicians at Millennium Pest Control Ltd can do.

4. Solar panel Guards- This fantastic product makes proofing solar panels easy. Very effective and they adjust to variables around the solar panels and the roof. This product will ensure no birds will be able to access and nest under the solar panels.

5. Rodent Gutter Brush- This is easily installed in domestic gutters and is an effective way of preventing rodents accessing the gutters and entering a structure under tiles. This product can be placed in conduits, under tiles, gutters, open pipes etc. It will still allow the functionality of draining water off roof tops and prevents a lot of blockages too.

6. Wire wool- Wire wool is an ideal and practical product for filling gaps around holes where rodents gain access. The material is a great deterrent for rodents and once installed alongside covering with cement ensures access for rodents is denied.

7. Proofing Plates – There are a range of plates to fit around all major pipe work on a property. These are aluminium hard-wearing plates that provide an effective professional look and prevent rodent intrusion into a property around pipe work.

8. Cement and wire wool.

9. Stainless Steal Rat Flap non return valve- This product comes in 4- or 6-inch sizes. If you are getting rodents coming up drains and into toilets this product will be an effective deterrent. A technician will check these drains on your property to see if there is definite rodent activity and then will measure the drain to see whether you would require a 4- or 6-inch non return valve. This still allows the drain to work effectively.

Proofing your home and denying rodents the opportunity to access is always the long term solution over baiting and trapping.
