Cockroach Control

Preparation and Advice

1) If you start to notice cockroaches, you will generally have an infestation that needs fully eradicating by our expert local pest controllers, they are highly skilled and carry the correct professional products that are required to exterminate a cockroach infestation.

2) Cockroaches pose a health risk to humans, this is due to the harmful organisms they carry when crawling on surfaces or contaminating food. They can cause food poisoning such as salmonella, streptococcus and staphylococcus to name a few.
3) They can be extremely damaging to a business and its reputation if cockroaches are reported, especially in food and drink premises such as a restaurant, hotel, takeaways and pubs. Environmental Health Officers from your local authority have the power to close a business if cockroaches are reported to them, so please act now by calling or booking online our cockroach control team who will eradicate your cockroach problem fast.
4) DIY Products – you can try and control the infestation in your home using amateur based products, however if you are a business, or have a noticeable infestation we always recommend using your local skilled pest controller that has the expertise and will use professional strong strength insecticide.
5) Never stand on a cockroach because although you may kill the adult you will release an egg case with approximately 100 baby nymphs ready to hatch!

Preparation before treatment:
1) Carry out a deep clean, clean all floors and work top surfaces removing all food debris and spillages.
2) Cover all waste bins with a lid
3) Cockroaches love hiding behind fridges due to the warmth of its motor, make sure you regularly clean behind your fridge.
4) Regularly wash up don’t leave dirty dishes overnight for cockroaches to thrive from.
5) Proofing – replace broken kitchen tiles, seal gaps around sinks doors and window where cockroaches can harbour.
6) Once you have instructed us to carry out a cockroach eradication treatment, arrangements will need to be made as everyone and pets will need to be excluded from the property or building for 4 hours to allow our treatment to dry so it is safe to return.

Cockroach Facts

1) There are 3 types of common cockroaches found in the UK, the 2 most common are the German Cockroach and Oriental Cockroach much less common is the American Cockroach.
2) Cockroaches are easy to recognise with their long antennae, flat oval shaped bodies and fast walking as they scurry around searching for their food and water source.
3) The German Cockroach is 10-15mm in length, yellow brown colour, whereas the oriental cockroach is darker shiny brown – black colour much larger in length 20 -24 mm.
4) Cockroaches will eat anything including faeces, waste and even themselves, their cannibalistic character is a way they regulate their populations.
5) They can survive for a couple of months without food but need water source every couple of days that why they are extremely common around sinks and kitchen cupboards.
6) A cockroach will live for approximately 200 days in this time when mated the female gestation period is about 4-5 weeks and an oriental cockroach is 8-9 weeks, when their ready to hatch a german cockroach will breed 30 young nymphs and an oriental 16 -18 in number.
7) The young nymphs go through 5- 6 stages until they reach maturity as a fully grown adult.

Here you can see a cockroach carrying its oothecal (egg case) with approximately 30 young nymphs inside – that’s why you never tread on or squash a female cockroach as you will release another 30 cockroaches.

Brilliant and friendly service by Tony Bennett, he was very knowledgeable and offered lots of advice. The report was completed very quickly and was very helpful to remember the key points. I’m very pleased with the service received and I would definitely recommend millennium pest control.

Good Value for money

When I saw I had to pay £200, I was a bit shocked, but didn't realise they would make three visits over six weeks!! - Plus supply all the poison and provide so much advice.
This represents great value and the guys are very friendly and I am very happy with the results.
My mice are not completely gone, but they are out of the house now and you can't really control what the neighbours do, but at least I now know whats happening and can stop them getting to the places I don't want them.
The service is so fast, I got a visit the very next day after I reported the problem, great company, highly recommended.
