Flea Control

Preparation and Advice

You should get a flea problem dealt with as soon as possible. Flea bites can cause long term itching if an infestation is left untreated, this can also lead to infections in humans where you may require health care. Both cat and dog fleas can also cause skin complaints and respiratory illnesses. Also your pet will remain in discomfort for thelength of time it carries fleas.

Preparation before a Treatment:

- Carpeted areas must have been hoovered prior to our treatment and hoover bags disposed of immediately.
- Any pets require flea treatments from your vets to run alongside the treatment;
- Please wash pet bedding on a 60 degree wash or dispose and thoroughly hoover and clean around where your pet sleeps.
- Remove all items of clothing and objects from underneath bed frames
- We need to access all wall to floor junctions to treat the cracks and crevices as fleas will reside and stay dormant in these areas;

You will need to be clear from the property while the treatment is taking place and also for the resulting 4 hours to allow drying time.

In the following days you might continue to see a few fleas, we advise after five days that you hoover all areas again to re-activate the chemical. By hoovering regularly after the initial five days you will draw more fleas out of their dormant state and force them to come into contract with the residual chemical. Also, you will be removing any eggs that have scattered into the carpet fibres.

Always dispose of the hoover bags/contents externally as they may re infest from the hoover itself internally.

If you have any concerns it is advisable that you call: 0800 085 44 60 to discuss the visit before we arrive or feel free to provide a contact number and we will call you back today.

Treatment DETAILS

Up to a 3-bed property = £160 +VAT -and a 4/5 bed property = £185 +VAT Schedule your treatment by booking and paying online to receive a 5% discount.

1) To book a Flea Removal Treatment at your property, simply phone our friendly customer services team or schedule a date for an appointment which you can book and pay online with a time of your choice through our online booking page of the website.

2) Our local qualified pest controller will arrive in and unmarked discrete vehicle, they will run through the treatment process with you. You will then be required to leave the property for four hours to allow us access and ensure that the chemical is dried before re-entry. Please make sure pets are also removed from the property prior to treatment and fish tanks are covered as insecticide can be harmful to aquatic life.
3) The Extermination treatment will include the use of a Growth hormone regulator a flushing agent and a residual insecticide. The regulator is used to halt breeding patterns and the accompanying flushing agent agitates the fleas into movement. Foe heavier infestation an insecticidal mist fogging treatment will also be used.

4) The treatment is usually carried out to all areas of the property unless specified by you. 95% of adult fleas are killed instantly.
Over the course of the following 2 – 3 weeks the activity will slow and the pest will reduce in numbers. Depending on how heavy the original infestation was after week 3 and 4 if you are still noting a few fleas it may require a second treatment at a 50% reduced rate. (This is unlikely and only tends to happen if the property is dormant and not lived in, or is predominately hard-floored in 80% of the treated areas)

If a 2nd treatment is required we will again be using a residual insecticide that will remain active for the next 4-6 weeks. This is designed to eliminate any lonesome remaining insects.

On completion of this cycle you will be pest free.

Our fees for our flea removal service will be:

- Up to a 3-bed property = £160 +VAT
- 4/5 bed property = £185 +VAT

Signs you have Fleas

First signs of fleas are that you notice your cat or dog scratching or biting their fur. You will notice fleas and their droppings in the coat of your pet when combing. Comb on to a white piece of paper as fleas are not always easy to see.

Flea bites are most common around your legs and ankles, if you start to notice bites in these areas or on another member of your family it’s a sure sign you could have fleas.

As the infestation increases fleas are soon found jumping around carpets and soft furnishings, this is due to your pet moving around the house and dropping flea eggs on to the floor.

Flea Facts

The most common flea found in the UK is the cat flea these account for 80-90% of the treatments pest controllers are called out to. Even when your dog has fleas it will more than likely be the cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis).

Less common are the dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis). Other types of flea in the UK are bird fleas and very rare now the Human Flea.
The lifecycle of a flea is egg, larva, pupa to adult. Depending on conditions this cycle can take anything between 4 to 30 weeks to complete.

Fleas thrive in heat between 21 – 30 degrees celsius and that is why most infestations are found in peak summer leading in to autumn months August – November.

An adult flea can lay up to 50 eggs a day and lives for approximately 2 years, in this time a single flea can lay up to 1500 eggs.

They cannot survive without the presence of its host (a pet or human) as they require to feed from the host’s blood.

Your pets can pick up fleas from walks, being in the garden, or socialising with other animals that are untreated.

Good Value for money

When I saw I had to pay £200, I was a bit shocked, but didn't realise they would make three visits over six weeks!! - Plus supply all the poison and provide so much advice.
This represents great value and the guys are very friendly and I am very happy with the results.
My mice are not completely gone, but they are out of the house now and you can't really control what the neighbours do, but at least I now know whats happening and can stop them getting to the places I don't want them.
The service is so fast, I got a visit the very next day after I reported the problem, great company, highly recommended.
