Carpet Moth and Clothes Moth Control

Preparation and Advice

Our local professional pest controllers carry out both specialist clothes moth and carpet moth extermination treatments throughout East Anglia which you can book and order online or alternatively call our office to make a booking. Before we attend it is paramount that the property is set ready for our treatments.

1) Carpeted areas must have been hoovered prior to our treatment and hover bags disposed of immediately.

2) Remove all items of clothing and objects from underneath bed frames and any infested wardrobes.

3) Moths often have harbourage sites under long standing heavy furniture, such as sideboards, pianos, tv stands etc. These need to be moved to the centre of the room, to allow us full access around the skirting boards and wall floor junctions.

4) We need to access all wall floor junctions to treat the cracks and crevices as moth and larvae will reside and stay dormant in these areas.

5) If there is a loft space we will need to treat this area also so please make sure it is accessible for the technician.

6) All persons living at the property will need to keep out of the property for 4 hours from commencement of the treatment, this includes pets. Fish Tanks should also be removed or covered as the chemical can be harmful to aquatic life.

Treatment DETAILS AND COST £150.00+VAT

Schedule your treatment by booking and paying online to receive a 5% discount.

1) To book a Carpet / Clothes moth Treatment at your property, simply phone our friendly customer services team or schedule a date for an appointment which you can book and pay online with a time of your choice through our online booking page of the website.
2) Our local qualified pest controller will arrive in and unmarked discrete vehicle, they will run through the treatment process with you. You will then be required to leave the property for four hours to allow us access and ensure that the chemical is dried before re-entry.
3) We will use a combination of Insecticides pin point spray treatments, which are residual to control all lifecycle of the moth. We sometimes may need to use an insecticidal mist fogger treatment.
4) Do not touch any wet chemical on return to the property, although this is highly unlikely after the four-hour exclusion.
5) In the following days after your treatment, you might continue to see a few numbers of insects, we advise after five days that you hoover all areas again to re-activate the chemical. By hoovering regularly after the initial five days you will draw more insects out of their dormant state and force them to come into contact with the residual chemical. Also, you will be removing any eggs/larvae that have scattered into the carpet fibres.
6) Always Dispose of the hoover bags/contents externally as they may re infest from the hoover itself internally. Ensure that clothes are washed at 60 plus degrees or dry cleaned to aid the reduction of insects.
7) A detailed digital report will be emailed to you at the completion of our treatment with relevant health and safety information.
8) Our treatments start from: £150.00 +vat up to a three-bed property, commercially it is advised we attend site and provide a detailed quotation and report before any further action.

Signs you have Carpet Moths or Clothes Moth

There are a few important things to be mindful of and look for when you suspect you have a clothes moth problem,
1) Seeing Live Moths
2) Holes and Damage to clothes especially made from wool
3) Holes and patches in carpets.
4) The adult female and male moths have different habits, it is likely that you will find males flying around the room and landing on various objects whether they be natural or synthetic, females rarely fly and tend to ‘hop’ around in their breeding areas looking for secluded dark undisturbed locations. They will attach themselves to curtains, clothes and carpets particularly around wall floor junctions where they can lay eggs in voids under skirting boards.
5) Larvae and pupa casings are often found in and around the damaged products, as stated it is the larvae that cause the damage by weaving themselves a silk purse to pupate in.

Carpet and Clothes Moth Facts

It wouldn’t be a surprise to find active common clothes moth within most households in the UK but most the time they show little to know signs of any activity as long as the numbers stay moderate.
Clothes moth have a complete growth cycle, egg, larvae pupa then adult. Life cycles will vary on temperature and humidity and will range from 2-3 months to up to 10 months.
The eggs are often laid in and around natural fibres so there is a food source available for the larvae once they hatch, the time line between the egg being laid and the larvae hatching again is dictated to by the environment.
Once the larvae are in full swing it will attack the fibres and create ‘bald patches’ and or holes in clothes. They are rarely seen during the day as feed at night which often leads to infestations not being noted until the damage is done.
Once the larvae stage is complete, they will pupate by weaving themselves into the fibres and then after a few weeks (can be up to 2 months) will then hatch and the cycle begins again.

Good Value for money

When I saw I had to pay £200, I was a bit shocked, but didn't realise they would make three visits over six weeks!! - Plus supply all the poison and provide so much advice.
This represents great value and the guys are very friendly and I am very happy with the results.
My mice are not completely gone, but they are out of the house now and you can't really control what the neighbours do, but at least I now know whats happening and can stop them getting to the places I don't want them.
The service is so fast, I got a visit the very next day after I reported the problem, great company, highly recommended.
