Carpet Beetles Control

Preparation and Advice

Millennium Pest Control provide a professional extermination service for eradicating carpet beetles throughout East Anglia, you can book a treatment and order on line now or phone our customer services booking team 0800 0854460

The carpet beetle is fast becoming the number one textile pest within the UK.
When we attend site we require:
1) Carpeted areas must have been hoovered prior to our treatment and hover bags disposed of immediately.
2) Remove all items of clothing and objects from underneath bed frames and any infested wardrobes
3) We need to access all wall floor junctions to treat the cracks and crevices the larvae will reside and stay dormant in these areas;
4) If there is a loft space we will need to treat this area also so please make sure it is accessible for the technician.
5) We would also advise that all guttering and vegetation build ups are addressed and cleared and any obvious bird nests removed, this is due to carpet beetle infestations originating outside in bird nests, don’t worry if this is something you may struggle to do feel free to discuss with the pest controller when he arrives and we can provide a quotation to carry out this work for you.
6) Please be advised at commencement of treatment all residents of the house will need to leave for a 4 hour exclusion time, this includes all pets (they can be left outside if it is safe to do so and fish tanks should be removed or covered as the chemical is harmful to aquatic life.

Treatment DETAILS AND PRICE £165.00 + VAT

Schedule your treatment by booking and paying online to receive a 5% discount.

1) Our local professional pest controller will arrive at your property discretely in an unmarked vehicle, they will survey your property and run through the treatment to be carried out and go through any health and safety requirements such as return entry times.
2) We treat all areas of the house including the loft with a knockdown and residual insecticide to ensure removal of these pests. You will need to be out of the property for at least 4 hours or until chemical dry.
3) The treatment within the property will be via use of a residual contact spray, we will inspect the loft and monitor for bird nesting material, this can be removed if required at additional fees and we will carry out a space spray into the void to aid in further control.
4) In the following days after your treatment, you might continue to see few numbers of insects, we advise after five days that you hoover all areas again to re-activate the chemical. By hoovering regularly after the initial five days you will draw more insects out of their dormant state and force them to come into contact with the residual chemical. Also, you will be removing any eggs/larvae that have scattered into the carpet fibres
5) Always dispose of the hoover bags/contents externally as they may re infest from the hoover itself internally. Ensure that clothes are washed at 60 plus degrees or dry cleaned to aid the reduction of insects.
6) As stated, blocked drains, gutters and high vegetation around properties can create a risk and encourage the beetle to the property, if these works are something you would like to outsource, we would be happy to provide a quote for this work.
7) Our treatments start from: £165.00 +vat up to a three-bed property, 95% of our treatments are eradicated in just one visit, unless it is such a heavy infestation which we would obviously discuss on site before work commences. If you are a commercial building with this pest it is advised we attend site and provide a detailed quotation and report before any further action.

Signs you have Carpet Beetles

1) Usually, the first indication of an infestation will be the visual signs of live or dead adult beetle around the window frames in the spring, it won’t always be clear to spot the damage that can be caused as we don’t all look under settees and behind TV stands that regularly, but this is something you can do immediately to address this possible issue.
2) Holes in clothing and bald patches in carpeted areas will be obvious and it is also likely you will see pupa and larvae which look like ‘rice’ laying around and as they develop a hairy looking maggot known as a wooly bear.
3) You may find searching through waste build ups in gutters, down pipes and bird nests evidence of larvae as sometimes in the right conditions these may be selected due to the content of hair and fur which can allow a food source for the grubs once they have hatched.

Carpet Beetle Facts

The varied beetle is mottled brown and grey and sometimes confused with a ladybird although a lot smaller in size at around 2-4mm. There are two further types of carpet beetle, a fur beetle with one white spot on each wing and a black carpet beetle which is quite rare.
The life cycle of a carpet beetle can take up to 12 months or more to complete dependent upon food availability and temperature.
The adult beetle feeds on pollen and nectar in gardens, it is usually seen between April and June when it looks for suitable breeding sites quite commonly within our homes.
Adults can be seen on window sills and ledges as they attempt to vacate properties once their egg laying is complete, many will die at this stage.
It is likely the larvae will be seen throughout September and October before they hibernate.
Eggs are often laid in bird nests, hairs, furs and accumulated dust and debris in and around secluded areas of the properties.
Carpet beetle larvae are between 3-4mm in length and are covered in hairs, the term ‘woolly bear’ is often referred to the larvae within the industry.
As the feed they shed and moult and often we can see cast off casing.

Good Value for money

When I saw I had to pay £200, I was a bit shocked, but didn't realise they would make three visits over six weeks!! - Plus supply all the poison and provide so much advice.
This represents great value and the guys are very friendly and I am very happy with the results.
My mice are not completely gone, but they are out of the house now and you can't really control what the neighbours do, but at least I now know whats happening and can stop them getting to the places I don't want them.
The service is so fast, I got a visit the very next day after I reported the problem, great company, highly recommended.
